You can easily try on a variety of sunglasses till you find a pair that fits your face just right. There’s also a more scientific way to figure out how to find the exact right fit for you. By learning this you will know the exact sunglasses that will fit your face shape and face size. Below we have some strategies for you that will help you decide what type of sunglasses will be perfect for your next pair.
Begin With The Cranium
Before you can start finding your other measurements you should find the measurement of your own head. This will help give you a rough estimate of what sunglass size fits you best. This also will help you learn what sunglasses are too big with your head size.
Getting The Right Millimeters
When you begin to measure your face make sure that the ruler side up is in millimeters with the location of your temple. The ruler should be in front of your face where your temple is. Simply measure straight across to the other temple. This is how you will find the best frame size for your face.
Sunglass Measurements To Know
Sunglasses have three basic sunglass sizes that you should pay attention to.
Bridge size: This size measures the piece of plastic that will connect to your sunglass lenses. To measure this size simply you will start and end at the innermost side of the lenses and measure to the same spot on the exact other side of the bridge.
Eye size: This is going to be the width of your sunglass lenses at the widest point. This will be one of the most common sizes you will see when finding your right pair of sunglasses.
Temple size: This size will measure the arms of the sunglasses which are also referred to as the temples. This measurement will begin at the hinges and then go straight across to the very end of the arm while keeping it an exact straight line.
Vertical measurement size: This size is measured from the very bottom of the lens to the very top of the lenses. This measurement is only useful in most cases with prescription eyewear or eyewear that requires specific lenses.
The Width
When learning the width you will be able to know how big your sunglasses will be. Remember to measure your face in millimeters and compare it to the width of the sunglasses so you can have a pretty good clue how big the sunglasses will be. Then, measure the segments of the arms from the very front of the sunglasses. Also, measure the bridges and the lenses. Once you find these measurements you will know whether the sunglasses are too big for your face or not.
Estimate Your Match
If you know the total width of the sunglasses, then subtract 6 mm from the total and compare that number to the one we just found earlier. If both sizes are within 2 mm from each other then those sunglasses would be a great fit for you. However, if you do not have the total width, but have the sunglasses from earlier, then simply add up the lenses multiplied by 2 with the bridge size. Make sure that number is also within 2 mm and you will be ready to rock the perfect sized sunglasses for your face.
